Get a Walmart+ membership and enjoy 6 months free

SAVE $59: As of March 18, when you sign up for a Walmart+ membership ($12.95/month or $98/year), you’ll get six free months of ad-free listening on Spotify Premium. It usually costs $9.99 per month, so you’ll be saving $59.

In case you missed it, Amazon is raising its Prime membership prices (yes, in this economy). It really comes as no shock when you consider the company has bumped its yearly cost by $20 every four years since 2014. But $14.99 per month or $139 per year is harder to justify, leaving many folks wanting to end their membership altogether.

Word to the wise: Walmart+ — Prime’s biggest rival — is still just $12.95 per month ($98 per year). And as of March 18, you can get six free months of Spotify Premium when you sign up.

Here’s how it works. Head on over to Walmart.com and start a paid membership. You’ll be asked to choose between a monthly or annual Walmart+ membership — either one will get you the Spotify Premium deal, but the annual membership is a better bang for your buck at $98 per year ($8/month). If you’re already a Walmart+ member, congrats — move to step two.

Next, head over to Spotify’s site and choose its Premium Plan. This unlocks six full months of ad-free music with unlimited skips and all the podcasts your heart desires on any device.

There is a catch, unfortunately: The offer is only available if you’ve never had Spotify Premium before. So, existing Spotify Premium members won’t get $59 slashed off their annual bill — and neither will those who tried Premium for only a few months years ago.

Once your six-month deal ends, you’ll have the opportunity to keep Spotify Premium for $9.99 per month. With a massive library of over 80 million songs, podcasts for days, intelligent Discover Playlists, the ability to download songs for offline enjoyment, and (say it with us) no more ads, Spotify’s hoping it reels you in after the trial period.

A Walmart+ membership, even without Spotify Premium, comes with a lot of perks as well. Walmart typically offers free, two-day shipping on orders of $35 or more, but Walmart+ members don’t have to reach the $35 threshold to get next-day, two-day, or standard shipping. If you live near a Walmart store, you can also get groceries and other items delivered to your home in an hour (but there is a $35 minimum for free delivery). You’ll also get exclusive early access to special promotions and events — from Black Friday deals to game console restocks — plus members-only fuel prices, prescription prices, and more.
