Amazon’s upcoming Fallout TV series has reportedly cast Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Arcane). Deadline broke the news first.
Purnell joining the cast comes just on the heels of February’s announcement that Walton Goggins, similarly, has reportedly joined the adaptation. As of this writing, there’s no word just yet on who Purnell will portray–Goggins will play a ghoul-like character. According to Variety, filming on the Fallout TV series will begin later this year, which means more casting announcements will likely follow in rapid succession. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, two of the key creatives behind HBO’s Westworld, are executive producers on the Fallout series. Nolan will direct Episode 1.
Todd Howard and Jason Altman from Bethesda are executive producers. As for the Fallout game series, 2018’s Fallout 76 is the latest entry in the series. Developer Bethesda Game Studios’ next project is Starfield, which releases in November 2022.
The Fallout TV series is one of a handful of upcoming video game productions in the works at Amazon. Earlier this year, Amazon signed dj2 Entertainment to a first-look deal to create gaming content for Prime Video, including potential adaptations of Life Is Strange and Disco Elysium. Sony’s Uncharted movie also hit theaters last month, while Netflix has just announced a BioShock movie.
