You’re open to buying Honor smartphones

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

Honor was a Huawei-owned brand until late 2020, when it was sold by the Chinese maker due to pressure from a US trade ban. The new company still has some DNA in common with Huawei when it comes to components and some aesthetics, but it’s an independent brand nonetheless.

Honor made a splash last week when Canalys reported that it was number one in China for Q1 2022. This got us thinking whether our readers would be open to buying Honor smartphones, and here’s what you said.

Would you buy an Honor phone?

Results

Just over 1,000 votes were cast in this poll, and it turns out that 49.18% of respondents say they would indeed buy am Honor smartphone. Some reader comments supporting this position point to enticing phones like the Honor Magic 4 series and Honor Magic V foldable.

Meanwhile, 43.36% of polled readers say they wouldn’t buy an Honor smartphone. There wasn’t a clear reason for this choice based on reader comments, although we’re guessing that competition from other major brands, concerns about after-sales service, Honor’s Magic UI skin, and availability all have a part to play.

Finally, 7.47% of respondents say it depends on the phone and pricing. After all, who could resist a flagship phone with great cameras, an IP68 rating, and wireless charging if it came in at $600?

Comments

  • Debatreyo Chakraborty: I would definitely buy the Magic 4 Ultimate Edition or the Magic 4 Pro if the former isn’t launched outside China ( not that they should do it). May be that’s the reason they’re not coming to India. They’re too overconfident for their own good. I wish to but but I can’t.
  • Basilio Padilla: I would very much like to get my hands in the honor fold
  • androwin: Why not! But only if they offer flagship feature-rich smartphone (and for me, preferably with Dimensity 9000/8000 or their successors).
