‘Wordle’ today: Here’s the answer, hints for May 13

May 13, 2022

Mwahahahahahaha! It’s Friday the 13th, and there’s a spooky* new Wordle to solve. Creep your way down this page for today’s Wordle answer, or hide from the scary spoiler at the end while you use our handy tips and today-specific clues to help you find the answer to #328. (*NB: Word may not actually be spooky in nature.)

Wondering what all the fuss is about? Wordle was created by Josh Wardle, a former Reddit engineer, as a gift for his partner. It went super-viral in late 2021, and was bought by the New York Times earlier this year in a very big deal. Romance pays!

Has the Times made Wordle harder? Sorry to bust your bubble, but you’ve actually been playing on Easy Mode this whole time — and the NYT Puzzle team has actually been making it easier. As we’ve reported previously, it’s the same old Wordle, with some “harder” words nixed from Wardle’s original list. If you’re finding it too easy, you can always switch on Hard Mode.

Not the Wordle answer you’re after? Here are the Wordle answer and hints for May 12.

What’s the best Wordle starting word?

Well, there are loads of options. Remember that packing in the vowels early on is a smart way to narrow things down.

What’s a Heardle? A Quordle?? A Dordle?!

Yo, if you love Wordle and want some more Wordle in your Wordle, try Dordle and Quordle and the bigger numbers that lie beyond. If you want to play the most maddening version of Wordle possible, try Absurdle — or test your foodie knowledge with the Martha Stewart-approved Phoodle.

Here’s how to play previous days’ Wordles from the archive

Did you know that the whole archive of past Wordles is available to play online? It’s true!

Why are there sometimes two different Wordle answers on the same day?

As we’ve previously reported, this is down to some changes the New York Times has made to creator Josh Wardle’s original word list to remove obscure, potentially offensive, or confusing words.

This happened just this week, as the originally programmed word for Wordle #324 on Monday was unexpectedly topical, leading the Times to publish a note explaining the coincidence and telling solvers to refresh their browser to ensure they got the updated version. It’s a good idea to do that daily anyway — it won’t affect your streak.

Here’s a hint for the May 13 Wordle answer:

It’s the name of a 2004 hit single.

Wordle 328 is a 5-letter word that starts with…

The letter T!

What’s the answer to the May 13 Wordle?

Cue the spooky strings…

The answer is:

TIPSY.

You have that song in your head now. Sorry!

Didn’t get it today? No shame in X-ing out, and there’s always tomorrow. See you back here for more clues and tips!
