Motorola might be pulling out all the stops with its 3rd-gen Razr foldable

TL;DR

  • The Motorola Razr 3 will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
  • It is expected to sport upgraded cameras, RAM, and storage.
  • The upgrades should finally make the Razr a flagship foldable device.

Motorola is looking to gain some major ground in the smartphone market, reportedly pulling out all the stops to make the next Razr foldable a true flagship device.

Motorola re-launched the Razr brand in late 2019 in an effort to capitalize on its past popularity and get in on the trend toward foldable phones. Unfortunately, the Razr was largely a disappointment, delivering only mediocre performance, battery life, build quality, and more. According to Android Police, the company is looking to fix that with the Razr 3 and deliver an actual flagship experience.

Shen Jin, Motorola’s general manager, posted an image on Weibo that appears to show a foldable phone paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Qualcomm’s latest chip should finally deliver flagship-level performance compared to the Razr 1 and 2, both of which sported mid-range processors.

The new processor is expected to be paired with 8 or 12GB of RAM, depending on the configuration, and 256 or 512GB of storage. The camera will also see a substantial upgrade, coming in at 50MP for the primary camera and 13MP for the ultrawide sensor.

If the reports are true, the Motorola Razr may finally deliver an experience worthy of its name and take its place as one of the premier foldable phones on the market.
