Take a pair of best friends who are total opposites, two major cities, and screen royalty like Reese Witherspoon, and there’s an ideal recipe for a romantic comedy. This is exactly what Netflix has done with Your Place or Mine, starring Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher.
Written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna (of The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses fame), the film sees the actors living vastly different lives. Witherspoon fosters routine in LA with her son, and Kutcher craves constant change in New York. They decide to swap houses for a week – and that’s when they discover what they really need. Picture elements of The Holiday, mixed with facets of every opposites-attract film you can imagine.
The rom-com also stars Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, Wesley Kimmel, Griffin Matthews, Rachel Bloom, Shiri Appleby, Vella Lovell, Tig Notaro and Steve Zahn.
