Best mice for Chromebooks in 2023

Over the years, Chromebooks have skyrocketed in popularity thanks to their intuitive and user-friendly features, such as cloud storage, long battery life, and lightweight designs that make them easy to carry around. But with their increasing demand comes the growing need for compatible accessories and peripherals to augment their user-friendliness. One such example is an external mouse, which is a more comfortable and convenient alternative to touchpads.

But considering that not every mouse is ChromeOS-compatible, searching for the perfect mouse for your stellar Chromebook could be daunting. Fortunately, we’ve taken the liberty of doing the heavy lifting for you, scouring the depths and trenches of the internet to find the latest and greatest mice for your Chromebook. So, read on and select the one that suits you best!

Choosing the right mouse for your Chromebook

When shopping for a mouse to use with your Chromebook, there are several factors you should consider, including compatibility with your operating system, connection type (wired or wireless), size, design orientation (right-handed or ambidextrous), and texture. Every mouse on our list is certified to work with your Chromebook, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility. Nevertheless, you’d have to keep an eye out for the other factors to select a mouse that suits your needs.

If you want a wireless mouse that strikes the perfect balance of form and function, we recommend the Logitech Triathlon and Logitech MX mice. They are comfortable to use, quiet, and have additional buttons for enhanced navigation. It’s worth noting, however, that they’re both contoured for right-handed use. Nonetheless, that’s where the Razer Pro Click Mini, Logitech Pebble, and Acer RF mice come into play, offering comparable quality while being ambidextrous.

On the other hand, If you’re on a tight budget but still want a comfortable, quiet, and functional mouse, the ambidextrous Seenda wireless mouse would fit you best. Notwithstanding, if you’re right-handed and plan on using your mouse for gaming, the Razer Basilisk X gaming mouse is the way to go. It offers exceptional accuracy and responsiveness and comes with six reprogrammable buttons for added navigation during gameplay. But bear in mind that ChromeOS doesn’t support button remapping, so you’d only be able to change the command of the reprogrammable buttons using a Windows or Mac computer.

Finally, If you are a fan of trackball mice, the Kensington Orbit Trackball is the ideal pick for you. It’s a stationary trackball mouse available in both wired and wireless options, and thanks to its ambidextrous design, it’s suitable for both left and right-handed users. On the contrary, if the mouse you’re getting is for a kid, you may want to go for the Sxban Kids mouse, as it is smaller than regular mice — and cuter!

Getting the most out of your Chromebook

While Chromebooks are known for being portable, power-efficient, and cost-effective, with a focus on enhancing productivity, it’s always possible to take things up a notch. For example, adding a good external mouse is a straightforward way to improve productivity and convenience. However, if you wish to go beyond that, consider getting a high-quality, Chromebook-compatible external keyboard to use in place of the small, flimsy one that comes standard with most Chromebooks.
