Abhorrent really. The greed is disgusting in this industry and these a-hole publishers are ruining the hobby. I have yet to see a GaaS game where I feel like it’s on par with a traditional game and the stubbornness to keep cranking these out feels like it’s out of spite due to consumer backlash.
Why in the world would I want a Suicide Squad over Arkham City or Knight? Look at Square’s Babylon Fall… oh wait, you can’t. What about Avengers… oh wait, that’s delisted. Remember when BioWare went GaaS, because I sure wish I couldn’t remember.
Until a game feels substantially finished and like a traditional game, I will not believe in a GaaS game nor want to support it. You have to ask yourself what is the point of the GaaS model vs a traditional game? Is it to make a game better or is it to monetize a game that requires a consumer to continuously dump money into it?
Maybe I’m just too old-fashioned and am stuck in the way of the old days when you paid a single lump sum of money and got a fully realized game from start to finish. Seriously though, where did this industry go astray? Why is it we’re here and I don’t want to hear it’s because games cost too much to make. I literally sat here and watched the Arkham Knight vs Suicide Squad comparison vids and I am not seeing anything justifying the increase in development costs. W’e’re supposed to be moving forwards not backwards.
