I just don’t see the point of getting those Xbox controllers unless you plan to use them exclusively with an Xbox device and want to avoid dealing with cables. For general use (PC, Mobile, Wired Xbox, Streaming, etc.), you can find much higher quality devices from brands like 8bitdo, Gamesir, Flydigi, and Binbok for less money.
The same goes for the Nintendo Pro Controller, making the DualSense the only first-party controller that I believe still has a unique place due to its “exclusive” features. While both Flydigi and Binbok offer controllers with adaptive triggers and haptics, respectively, the former relies on set profiles, and the latter is closer to Nintendo’s HD Rumble in practice. Therefore, the DualSense remains the best way to experience these technologies, despite its drawbacks, such as battery life and mediocre sticks. Meanwhile, the Xbox Controller and the Pro Controller are just average controllers with nothing particularly unique or amazing about them.
And having grown up with third-party controllers that were essentially e-waste, this development was something I certainly did not expect.
