Just played Gotham knights on gamepass a few days ago and it is definitely not an Arkham game. For some insane reason the developers chose to forgo free flow combat from the Arkham games in favor of the old combat system from beat em up games with finishing moves. I know they intended this to be a looter game, but I would have rather they focused on single player. The game also has very little focus on stealth. Imagine one of the first missions in the game is to sneak past the hostiles and you can’t even crouch in this game. That oversight combined with it running at 30 FPS caused me to uninstall the game.
If I was to redesign the game, I would make it focused on single player and allow you to switch between the characters similar to GTA5 or Spiderman 2. I would also use the improved system from the spiderman games and have a wide range of suits available for each hero with different abilities and perks. This would have allowed it to be 60 FPS instead and the graphics in the environment would have been better as well. It is a shame that some publishers just can’t see the value in a great single player experience. Look at the success this formula has brought for the previous Arkham games, insomniac, Santa Monica studio, Sucker punch, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, Bethesda, Larian Studios, CD PR, Square Enix, Capcom and many more.
