Legal Issue Preventing Vampire Survivors From Getting Cross-Save On PlayStation Consoles

A free update is on the way to Vampire Survivors this month, and while it will add cross-save support on PC and Xbox consoles, PlayStation owners won’t be receiving the feature. According to Vampire Survivors developer Poncle, cross-save support for PS4 and PS5 won’t be included in the update due to a legal issue.

“We’re sorry to say [we] won’t be able to bring the Vampire Survivors cross-save feature to PlayStation 4 and 5 alongside our next update,” Poncle explained on the game’s Threads account. “Last month, we told everyone that cross-save would be available on PlayStation 4 and 5, PC, Xbox, Android, and iOS alongside our next free Vampire Survivors update in April. But at [the] last minute, we’ve run into a legal issue on PlayStation we weren’t aware of, that requires us to share info on our partners that we’re unable to.”

While PlayStation cross-save support isn’t being ruled out entirely, Poncle did add that chances of it coming to the consoles remains “slim” for now, but it is working on resolving the issue with PlayStation. The update will be coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles first, and then to Nintendo Switch at a later date. The Apple Arcade version of Vampire Survivors might also get the update, if it can be done without breaching any privacy commitments, Poncle noted.

As for what else the update will contain, Poncle has teased that it will be the biggest one to date for the game, and more details will be revealed on April 10 during the Triple-I Initiative. Last year was a busy one for the game, as it was released on PS4 and PS5, got a new expansion in the form of the massive Ode to Castlevania, and appeared in the hit game Balatro as guest DLC.

An official Vampire Survivors Grimoire has also been revealed, and if you’re interested, you can grab it for $30 through Amazon ahead of its October 21 release.
