Samsung took its time to launch One UI 7 to the public after debuting it on the Galaxy S25 series at the beginning of the year. The company will take the same approach with Android 16-based One UI 8, launching it with its upcoming foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 — first.
In its One UI 8 beta program announcement post, the company revealed that “thanks to the mutual partnership between Samsung and Google, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s newest foldables this summer.” The Android skin’s rollout will then expand to more Galaxy devices over the following months, presumably starting with the Galaxy S25 and then moving on to additional devices.
If you own the Galaxy S25, you can join Samsung’s Android 16 beta program right away to take One UI 8 for a spin on your phone.
Rumors suggest that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in early July, possibly less than a month after Google releases Android 16 for the public in June. Samsung says One UI 8 will be among the first Android skins to adopt Android 16, all thanks to “Samsung and Google actively shared their respective design systems and real-time feedback with one another.”
It also marks the launch of “a new rhythm for Samsung’s software evolution with major UX and AI updates.”

One UI 8 will introduce new QR- and NFC-enabled support, accessible via your Samsung account, allowing you to quickly check in at repair centers without manually filling out a form. The update will also introduce a revamped Reminder app with support for voice-based input. Now Bar and Now Brief will get even better in One UI 8 and use AI to provide even more insights and suggestions.
With Auracast support in One UI 8, you can play the same audio stream on multiple devices, like the Galaxy Buds 3 and hearing aids. Plus, the skin will make the entire sharing process easier by using QR codes.
Samsung should reveal more about One UI 8 when it officially takes the wraps off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in a couple of months from now.
