Apple has a new version of iPhone’s default ringtone

A new version of the iPhone‘s “Reflection” ringtone has been found in the iOS 26 beta.

Reflection has been the default iPhone ringtone since the iPhone X, and for the vast cohort of users who don’t bother to change it (me included, though I always keep my iPhone on silent), it’s the most recognizable iPhone ringtone.

Now, X user @8810cfw has found a new version of the Reflection ringtone in the iOS 26 beta code. Named “ReflectionAlt1-EncoreRemix,” it’s definitely a ringtone, with a recognizable, simple melody, that has some similarities with the original Reflection but is also a bit more…mellow? Check it out on X.

This doesn’t necessarily mean Apple plans to replace the original Reflection with the new one, or even that it plans to offer the new Reflection variant to users (although it’s a pretty big possibility given that the iOS 26 public beta is weeks away, and new iPhones are launching in a couple of months). In fact, the ringtone is hidden in the iOS 26 developer beta, meaning it’s not possible to set it as your ringtone in your iPhone’s settings.

As MacRumors noted, the iOS 26 beta also lets you set a custom ringtone without the annoying step of using GarageBand, though it’s unclear whether that’s connected to the new Reflection ringtone.
