‘Phineas and Ferb’ creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh reveal their favorite songs from the show — and the stories behind them

Phineas and Ferb got the band back together, debuting Season 5 on Disney+. To celebrate, creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh visited Mashable for a Say More interview, which dove into the trials of the show’s creation, the hilarity behind their platypus details, and their favorite songs from the series.

In this clip from the full interview (now available on YouTube), Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko asks Povenmire and Marsh to reflect on the unexpected popularity of “S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)” — which became a popular TikTok meme — and how it’s affected their approach to Season 5. “The things you think are going to click,” Marsh began, with Povenmire finishing the thought, “Are not always the ones.”

“‘Squirrels in My Pants’ is the biggest example,” Marsh explained, “When we wrote that, we thought, ‘Well, it’s funny. It works for the show. It has no life outside of this format. And yet that’s the one.”
