A24 has released a trailer for The Invite, teasing a dinner party which looks set to be much more dramatic than the hosts had planned.
A remake of the 2020 Spanish comedy The People Upstairs, The Invite follows couple Joe (Seth Rogen) and Angela (Olivia Wilde, who also directs). The pair’s marriage is struggling, their previous spark having been replaced by disagreements and disgruntlement.
Their relationship soon comes to a potential crossroads when they invite their upstairs neighbours (Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton) for a dinner party. A notably more laid-back pair than their hosts, it looks as though Joe and Angela’s guests have seen the couple from their apartment window and really dig their vibes.
The Invite is scheduled for a limited release in theatres June 26.
