If you were betting on Samsung crossing the One UI 8.5 beta finish line this week, it might be time to pay up.
The Samsung Galaxy S25, prior to today, already had eight distinct versions of the Android 16 QPR2-based Samsung OS. Now, the device is getting yet another One UI 8.5 beta build, bringing the count to nine.
It’s worth noting that the Galaxy 26 series already runs One UI 8.5 in stable, suggesting that the lengthy beta period might be less about making sure the OS works properly, and more about giving the tech giant’s latest flagship exclusive access to its new features.
The development was spotted and pointed out by Tarun Vats on X, via Android Authority.
The firmware ends in ‘ZZDD,’ and it carries a 915MB package that includes the April 5, 2026 security patch. According to Vats, the build is now rolling out in the US, Korea, Germany, the UK, and India.
In addition to the Galaxy S25 series, new One UI 8.5 beta builds also seem to be dropping for older Samsung devices and foldables. These include:
Here’s what’s new with build ZZDD:
- Added new AI features.
- Fixed an issue where the incoming call screen appears late or shows a black screen when receiving a call.
- Fixed a proximity sensor error during calls.
- Fixed an issue where green lines appear when recording videos in 4K HDR with the camera in certain 3rd party apps.
- Improved Bluetooth crash issues.
- Improved multi-touch malfunction after using accessibility magnification.
It’s not entirely clear whether this will be the last One UI 8.5 beta before we see a stable update. It’s worth noting that previous leaks put the stable rollout around the end of April.
The Galaxy S25’s stable One UI 8.5 update is expected to arrive on April 30 in Korea. Subsequently, the update is expected to roll out internationally starting May 4.
