Can’t save or share YouTube videos on YouTube? You’re not alone

May 5, 2026

YouTube carries a wealth of information, be it the perfect recipe for your favorite dish, DIY help for home projects, deep dives into the subject you need assistance with, and even Android Police tech reviews.

And normally, when you stumble upon a video that you like, you’re able to save it to watch it later, or seamlessly share it with a friend. This seamless saving and sharing functionality, however, seems to be broken for some right now.

YouTube wants to help you stop wasting time with new experimental features

Auto-speed and On-the-go controls can help you use YouTube like a podcast app

Right below YouTube’s video player UI resides a tool carousel. This houses buttons for Like/Dislike, Share, Save, Remix, Download, and more. According to recent user reports on platforms like Reddit (via PiunikaWeb), the Share and Save buttons have become unresponsive.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t an issue for me on Android, iOS, and desktop. However, that doesn’t mean that this is an isolated bug. The issue, which was first reported by user BigBoi608 on Reddit, has several user comments that corroborate the bug’s existence.

While most report the bug with the Share and Save buttons, others report the issue spreading to other buttons too. “It started a few days ago. Save to playlists, Share, Remix, Report, and a lot of other buttons in this UI are simply inactive,” wrote one user, while a different user wrote, “Same about 90% of the buttons don’t work and I’m paying money for this, fix it now.”

The bug is showing up for both Premium and non-Premium users, though, interestingly, it also has a very simple but temporary fix.

Users have found that if they rotate their device into Landscape Mode, the unresponsive buttons immediately become responsive. Of course, this is an awkward fix, especially for those that keep phone orientation locked. However, as of right now, it seems to be the only ‘fix.’
