Summer fitness tracking just got an upgrade. On May 7, Google officially launched the Fitbit Air, which Stephen Curry has been sporting for weeks now. The screenless health and fitness tracker is set to ship on May 26 and is perhaps Whoop’s newest competitor. While the Fitbit Air looks great and comes with user-friendly features, it’s price of $99.99 might be one of its best attributes.

As the name suggests, the Fitbit Air is incredibly lightweight, coming in at just 12 grams with the band. It’s designed to be comfortable enough for all-day and all-night wear. That’s great news since Google says battery life can stretch for up to one week, and it has advanced sleep tracking capabilities.

We have tons of options when it comes to fitness trackers, including smart rings, but not many fall under the $100 price mark. Google aims to bring a level of simplicity to fitness tracking with the Fitbit Air, both in functionality and overall look, according to the brand’s press release.

Features of the Fitbit Air

Like we’ve come to expect from fitness trackers, the Fitbit Air does the standard tracking of workouts, 24/7 heart-rate monitoring, and monitoring sleep stages. Getting more detailed and unique, the Fitbit Air takes note of heart rate rhythms and is equipped with Afib (atrial fibrillation) alerts. It also tracks SpO2 and heart-rate variability.

Mashable Trend Report

When it comes time to workout, you don’t necessarily have to let the Air know because it’s designed to automatically detect and track workouts. Google says over time, the tracker will get better at automatic detection as it becomes more accustomed to your routines. If swimming is your preferred workout, it’s water resistant up to 50 meters.

The Fitbit Air’s battery life is said to last for up to seven days, and a full recharge should only take about 90 minutes. If you’re short on time, Google says a five-minute charge will earn you an additional day of battery life.

Stephen Curry special edition

In addition to the standard colorway options, there’s a special edition on offer at launch — the Stephen Curry model. The NBA champ helped Google with developing the Fitbit Air, and the special model comes with a Performance Loop band with a water-resistant coating. The interior has raised bands that are said to help with increased airflow during intense activity. The Stephen Curry edition of the Fitbit Air comes in at $129.99, or $30 more than the Air with a Classic band.

Preorder and launch info

Preorders for the Fitbit Air are already live. Google says the tracker is set to hit shelves on May 26. You can also pre-order accessory bands today, which start at $34.99. There’s an additional incentive to preorder since Google is offering a free $35 Google Store credit on all orders. The credit will show up after your order ships.
