Samsung’s upcoming wide-screen foldable could trade three rear cameras for two

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is all but confirmed at this point, and if leaks are to be believed, it could grace the big stage alongside the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Z Flip 8 in July this year.

We’ve seen the device leak several times, with the most recent being the upcoming device’s official renders found in an early Samsung One UI 9 build.

Thanks to the renders, it’s all but certain that the upcoming device will only feature two rear cameras instead of three, which happens to be the same rear layout as another experimental Samsung phone: The Galaxy S25 Edge.

The Edge, however, boasted a 200MP main shooter. That might not be the case with the upcoming wide-screen foldable.

According to a new spec leak from the folks over at GalaxyClub and SamMobile, both rear cameras on the Z Fold 8 Wide will be 50MP. Considering today’s flagships, two 50MP shooters is a modest setup at best.

The main camera will reportedly use an F1.8 aperture lens, while the secondary camera will feature an F1.9 aperture lens. Both rear cameras will be able to capture 8K 30fps video.

Tradeoffs for a smaller price tag?

Leak spills the beans on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Wide Fold launch date

Mark your calendars for July 22, 2026

The camera setup looks familiar on the front with two 10MP shooters, one on the cover display and another on the inner display.

Thanks to the camera leak, it looks like the wide-screen foldable could be priced competitively, potentially even lower than the standard Z Fold 8.

Expect the wide-screen foldable to be available in multiple colors, with ‘Dark Green’ being the signature hue.

Elsewhere, the report also adds that the Z Fold 8 Wide will sport a 4,800mAh battery, while the regular Z Fold 8 will boast a bigger 5,000mAh cell, which further suggests a cheaper price tag for the new wide-screen foldable.

Expect the new foldables to be revealed in July.
