Those who’ve been waiting for Adobe Premiere’s arrival on Android since last year when Adobe said it was “in development” have a new timetable of “soon.”
It’s less than hoped for, but it’s something. The update came along with Google’s landslide of announcements concurrent with The Android Show, specifically with new creator-focused features in Android.
“The Adobe Premiere app is coming to Android soon,” Google said in its blog post. “With Premiere, you’ll get access to exclusive templates and effects to create and post YouTube Shorts from the app, helping you stand out in the feed.”
Aside from the YouTube Shorts features, there is no other word on what Android users can expect from the mobile video editing app.
A roadmap of what to expect
Looking to what those with Apple devices enjoy can provide some clues though. The iOS app was released in September of last year.
It handles all of those smooth transitions you see in TikToks, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, resizes videos for all platforms, takes out backgrounds with a tap, adds auto captions, and much more.
The app is free to use and the only cost is for those who want to purchase Firefly generative AI credits.
