Galaxy Z Fold 8 rumors hint at a lighter foldable, but there’s a catch

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and maybe a Galaxy Z Fold Wide, in July, and until then, the rumors will continue.Today they bring word about specs, cameras, the battery, and price.

According to GSMarena, the Z Fold 8 will weigh around 210 grams and measure 4.1mm thick unfolded, making it thinner and lighter than the Z Fold 7, which weighs 215 grams and is 4.2mm when open. As AP’s Andy Boxall put it in his review of the Z Fold 7, “Yes, a few millimeters and grams make a lot of difference.”

The report also said that little will change with the Galaxy Z Fold’s cameras. The 8 will keep the selfie cameras and their 10MP sensors, while the rear camera will remain 200MP with an upgraded ultrawide sensor of 50MP.

The battery is in for a bit of a bump, from the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400 mAh battery to a 5,000 mAh in the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

While there’s no official name or even word that it’s coming, the expected Galaxy Z Fold Wide will be about 200 grams and reportedly will have a 4:3 aspect ratio and 7.6-inch inner display. Two rear cameras will have a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Additionally, there will be a 4,800mAh battery.

Setting aside specs, it’s the cost that might be of the most interest to consumers. We keep being told to brace ourselves for price hikes because of component shortages and supply chain issues related to the war in Iran, and today Phone Arena said we can expect a more expensive Galaxy Z Fold.

It said a report from South Korea speculates that the 512GB model of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could cost $2,300 to $2,400m and the 1TB model might surpass $2,700.

Samsung’s upcoming wide-screen foldable could trade three rear cameras for two

And they’re 50MP each
