Russell Nicolet had no family or mentor to guide him when he entered the legal world, yet he had to find his way. As the first person in his family to attend law school, he jumped into the profession without a roadmap. What he did have was a strong desire to help people navigate what is often the most confusing and overwhelming period of their lives. This specific aim to stand up for those who have been injured has remained the compass guiding his entire career.
The leap from student to practice was not an easy one. When he launched Nicolet Law as a one-man firm, he had to figure out the many complexities of the courtroom in addition to the business of running a law practice. He decided to push through the uncertainty. As a young attorney, Russell Nicolet spent many hours in the Washington County Law Library researching cases to make certain his clients were receiving the highest level of service from him, regardless of his limited experience.
Building His Expertise the Hard Way
In those early days, Russell took on general litigation. This provided a hands-on approach to a wide range of legal strategies. As he began to focus more on personal injury law, he realized that to be the best representative for his clients, he needed to learn from the best in the country. As a result, he made it his quest to travel to places such as Florida, Georgia, New York, and California to train under the nation’s top trial attorneys.
He became focused on solving client problems, and his dedication to his craft eventually earned him recognition. This included being named among the Top 40 Under 40 and Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine. Even though Russell treasures these awards, he is quick to point out that they are not the main point of his work. For him, real success is measured by the meaningful, life-changing verdicts he wins for his clients.
Expansion and the Future
What began as a personal mission for legal excellence has evolved into a much larger legal team that now serves families across three states. For Russell, growth is about more than just numbers. It is about the impact of his work. A larger firm means more resources to represent clients, and he views continued expansion as a way to better serve the many hard-working families of the Midwest.
