We’ve already seen this “wide” Z Fold appear in leaked animations back in February, so its existence hasn’t exactly been a secret. Now, prominent leaker Ice Universe has revealed an image depicting the phone’s super-wide cover screen.
To be clear, this image doesn’t show a functioning Z Fold 8 Wide, but a display component possibly sourced from the supply chain. Still, it gives us a decent understanding of exactly how wide the Z Fold 8 Wide’s cover screen will be when it hits retail shelves sometime in late July or August.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide could be announced in late July
Considering this isn’t an official revelation, we’re taking it with a grain of salt for the time being. However, given Ice Universe’s impeccable track record of smartphone leaks, especially regarding Samsung devices, nobody should be surprised if the leaker’s claims are eventually vindicated.
Apart from the wide display of the upcoming foldable, recent leaks have also shed light on other hardware attributes. While the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to retain the triple-rear-camera arrangement, the Z Fold 8 Wide will reportedly offer two 50MP rear cameras. Meanwhile, the front cameras on the inner and cover screens will reportedly be 10MP units, similar to the standard Z Fold models.

While official confirmation is awaited, rumors suggest Samsung will unveil the trio of Galaxy foldables at an event in London on the 22nd of July.
Considering its unique form factor and aspect ratio, there’s every chance that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will be preferred by many over the more conventional Z Fold 8. Speaking of which, reports indicate the Z Fold 8 won’t bring too many hardware upgrades, though a bump in battery size is expected.
Samsung will have to contend with the release of Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone, which will also feature a wide display and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s entirely likely that Samsung will set an attractive price tag for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to give it an edge over Apple’s offering, which could be released by September.
Will you wait until Apple’s foldable has launched or go all in on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide when it breaks cover this summer?
