Take-Two says GTA 6 is still on track, so fans can breathe easy

Rockstar Games keeping quiet about Grand Theft Auto 6 had die-hard fans worried. Gamers were preparing for another delay, but Take-Two says that the release date is still holding firm.

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that GTA 6 remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, easing fears that the most anticipated game in the industry might slip again. The game was originally planned for fall 2025, before moving to May 2026, and then later being pushed back to November.

GTA 6 marketing kicks off this summer

In an interview with Bloomberg, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said marketing for GTA 6 will begin this summer. So we can expect more details around the pricing and preorders to surface then. GTA 6 doesn’t need a painfully long marketing ramp. Rockstar can likely dominate the gaming conversation with one trailer, one preorder date, and a few carefully timed gameplay reveals.

Still, getting firm pricing details will be especially interesting, given how much speculation there has been around whether GTA 6 could push premium game pricing even higher.

Zelnick also addressed rising console prices, which have been tied to memory chip shortages and hardware cost hikes. He called those increases “not great news,” but said he doesn’t expect market conditions to create major challenges ahead of GTA 6’s debut.

In other words, he’s confident in the game being a solid experience that will bring in players. This is understandable as the series is one of the strongest brands in entertainment, and the next eentry is widely expected to become one of the best-selling games of all time.

The company also expects bookings between $8 billion and $8.2 billion for fiscal 2027, so Rockstar has to bring out the game to meet these projections.
