We’re expecting to see the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at the event, though the latest round of leaks suggest that the lineup will not look familiar.
For reference, the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, released in 2024, featured just one configuration: 4G LTE. This time around, Samsung might be looking at offering a second, more budget-conscious variant of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, as pointed out by GalaxyClub.
This cheaper variant will be launched as a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-only model.
Samsung is giving users more choice this year
This means that users will be able to choose whether they want their wearable to feature a built-in eSIM, or if they want their wearable to rely on their phone’s connection. The former allows you to stay connected even when you’re out and about without your phone, while the latter will always be dependent on your phone to stay connected.
Breaking a variant out should allow Samsung to offer an Ultra model at a relatively cheaper price, making the wearable more accessible to users.
According to GalaxyClub, this model is being prepared for the European market. It isn’t entirely clear if the same variant will make its way to the US market, with reports suggesting that Samsung will launch a 5G Watch Ultra 2 variant in the US.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that the cheaper variant won’t be available to us.
