The big PlayStation Days of Play kicks off on May 27 with sales on PS5 games and accessories, but in a sign of the times, don’t expect PS5 consoles to be discounted. While previous years saw Sony temporarily reduce PS5 prices by $50, this year’s promotion offers no such discount and comes in the wake of successive price hikes for the hardware.
For now, it’ll still cost $600 to grab a base PS5 Digital Edition console, with the price increasing for the model with a disc drive, and going up to $900 for the PS5 Pro console. Sony has cited market conditions as being one of the drivers behind the price hikes, breaking the longstanding trend of console hardware decreasing in price as it gets older. The PS5 generation enters its sixth year in November 2026, so if you picked up one of those consoles before tariffs, global instability, and rampant investment in AI technology drive costs upwards, then you got an asset that has only appreciated since then.
So what will be on sale? Sony is shaving $100 off the price of a PlayStation VR2 headset and up to $20 off its popular DualSense controllers. You can also grab a set of Pulse Explore wireless earbuds for $50 less; the Pulse Elite wireless headset has been discounted by $40, and there will be “various discounts” on games like Ghost of Yotei, Helldivers 2, Death Stranding 2, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.
Sony will also be hosting several other promotions around the hardware deals. PS Plus can grab Destiny 2: Legacy Collection when it’s added to the PS Plus Game Catalog on June 9, and there’ll also be exclusive DLC packs for Marathon, World of Tanks, and EA Sports FC 26. PlayStation Plus prices were also recently increased–making multiplayer access more expensive across the board for PS5 owners–but Sony says that it’ll offer up to 33% off the price of a 12-month PS Plus subscription for consumers in “participating” countries.
This deal will apply to new and existing PS Plus memberships, and was announced at the same time as the June 2026 PS Plus free games. Days of Play starts May 27 and runs through June 10.
