AI that watches what you watch
There’s no escaping the algorithm’s watchful eye on streaming platforms. Roku’s Quick Access block is an AI-powered mix of what apps are most frequently opened.
It adjusts as a user’s habits change, but it also accepts input from the actual humans watching and apps can be added or removed manually. The full app list is a few scrolls further down the screen.
A Top Picks For You section is a mix of what the user is watching themselves and popular picks that are trending across the Roku platform. Clicking on a For You box within the section brings a user to programming mapped to their watch history.
In the For You section, there’s Your Daily Scoop which is a row of zeitgeist- and AI-driven topic cards. Clicking on them leads to related content.
Take a tour of the city
Anyone who’s ever paused their streaming to spend some time in Roku City can now explore it further. The home screen has a tile that takes you on an interactive tour.
It’s also where Roku’s games like Daily Trivia, Roklue, and Roku City Dash live.
Coming soon to a TV near you
The home screen update is rolling out to Roku TVs and streaming devices in the US today.
The update is automatic, but you can go to the Roku home screen and click on Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now to see if you have the latest version and to initiate an update if you don’t.
