Halo: Campaign Evolved is a complete remake of 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved. Focused purely on its single-player campaign, this is more than just a graphical glow-up for the game, as it also includes prequel missions featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. Several modern gameplay enhancements have also been included–like the ability to hijack enemy vehicles and drive the Wraith–and nine new weapons have been added to Master Chief’s arsenal. You can even break out into a sprint in Halo: Campaign Evolved, a feature that was missing from the original game.
Players can also look forward to a “campaign remix” that for missions to be tackled with a series of modifiers–AKA Skulls–applied to them, and two-player split-screen co-op on console is also a big draw. Four-player online co-op is available, and the game features both cross-play support and shared progressions between console and PC. Visually, Halo: Campaign Evolved also looks impressive, as every asset from Combat Evolved has been remastered in Unreal Engine 5.
If you’re looking to grab another Xbox icon for your collection, Gears of War: E-Day preorders are also open ahead of its October 6 release.
