Mint Mobile’s surprise move delivers more data at no extra cost

Pricing fatigue is something that everyone has been dealing with for a few years now, and it seems like every few months, something is going up in price without getting anything back. But occasionally, a company will surprise us, offering some relief during these trying times.

Mint Mobile has shared that the carrier is upping the data on all its plans, and doing this without increasing prices. The 5GB plan will now come with 6GB, while the 15GB plan will now offer 17GB. And finally, the top-end 20GB plan will also get an increase, coming in at 23GB.

Pretty good considering it’s free

Now, the unlimited plan doesn’t get any changes. However, it did get an update previously that increased hotspot data to 20GB. With that said, Mint Mobile does offer some of the best plans if you’re looking to save money.

In addition to affordable plans, the carrier also offers some excellent deals on phones. As far as the service, Mint Mobile has proved to be pretty reliable, providing excellent coverage and speeds. The network runs on T-Mobile’s 5G network, which has proven to be quite impressive.

A number of Android Police writers have experienced the service first hand, and for the most part, there have been no complaints. If you’re a heavy data user, you might see some throttling, but, all in all, there’s very little to complain about.

If you’re thinking about making the change and looking to save a little money in the process, we recommend giving Mint Mobile a try. The plans start at just $10/month. You will need to pay for the plans up front, so that’s just something to be aware of.

Mint Mobile is a value-focused MVNO that runs off T-Mobile’s 5G network in the US. It differentiates itself from the competition by offering wholesale discounts for its service — you buy multiple months of service at a time and pay less per month as a result. Mint Mobile was partially owned by Ryan Reynolds, before T-Mobile acquired the MVNO earlier in 2024.
