The original Google Home speaker was released in the US all the way back in 2016. Now, exactly 10 years later, a new Google Home speaker appears to be all but confirmed.
This isn’t the first time we’ve written about a new Google Home speaker. Earlier this month, we wrote about the reported speaker showing up on Best Buy Canada. Now, Google itself has given us more clues about its next smart speaker.
After six years, Google’s new Home speaker might actually have a release date
Best Buy Canada shows listing
According to the Best Buy Canada leak, the new device will be released on June 25, 2026. Although the date was up in the air, apart from the Best Buy leaks, we found no other credible reason to believe that the date was accurate.
That’s not the case anymore.
Google’s Chief Product Officer for Gemini for Home, Anish Kattukaran, shared a new Reddit post earlier today that serves as a note to users, thanking them for their critiques and feedback regarding Gemini for Home (via Android Authority).
In regards to the new speaker, though, Kattukaran’s post’s main content doesn’t concern us. It’s what he wrote as an extra note at the end that truly matters.
And for those of you who have been patiently waiting for a certain speaker… keep a very close eye on your inbox next week. 🙂
If the device is indeed being released on the 25th, next week would be the perfect time to unveil the speaker.
For what it’s worth, I doubt that the speaker will actually be ‘released’ next week. Instead, the speaker will likely be available for pre-order next week, with shipping starting at a later date.
Elsewhere, from what we already know, the device will cost $140 CAD, which puts it around the Nest Audio’s $100 USD price range. The Best Buy page also suggests that the device will be available in Hazel and Porcelain colors.
We’ll have more to share if Google unveils the device next week.
