After nearly 18 months away, Honor has returned to its standard range of smartwatches with the Honor Watch 6.
The good news is it has abandoned the Apple Watch-style design of the Honor Watch 5, and isn’t as flashy as the Watch 5 Ultra, but that hasn’t stopped it looking to other recent models for inspiration instead.
Round dial replaces Apple Watch looks
The Honor Watch 6 has a round case made from aluminum, with a stainless steel bezel, but can also be purchased with a full stainless steel case and bezel too. It comes in Shadow Black or Twilight Brown, and is attached to a black rubber strap or a brown leather option.
The 46mm case is going to be big on small wrists, and the 50 gram weight (without the strap) suggests you’re going to feel it there for a while until you get used to it. The 10.8m thickness means it shouldn’t get annoying under cuffs though.
Honor has placed the crown at the 2 o-clock point, which gives the case some visual identity, and is also very natural to use when twisting it with your finger.
While Honor has (happily) moved away from the Apple Watch’s design, it has instead adopted one similar to the OnePlus Watch Lite. With this, and only one case size, the Honor Watch 6 isn’t likely to be a dainty smartwatch option.
What about the specs?
The Honor Watch 6 has a 1.46-inch AMOLED screen with a 464 x 464 pixel resolution, a 980mAh battery, 4GB of memory, and the app operates with both Android and iOS devices.
For fitness tracking, the smartwatch has more than 120 different sports available to track, and dual-band GPS onboard too. The battery life is going to vary depending on use, but an extended battery mode will push it to around 35 days, according to Honor.
The smartwatch will also track sleep, stress, blood oxygen, and heart rate. It also has a Quick Health Scan feature, which shows key data points at a glance.
It’s good to see an IP69 dust and water resistance rating, making it durable enough to wear in most environments.
When will it be available?
The Honor Watch 6 will be available to buy in the UK, but Honor has not confirmed any US launch.
The brown leather strap model will be £250 (about $335), and the black rubber strap version will cost £230 (about $308). If you’re early and get an order in before July 17, the price will be reduced to £170 (about $228) for the brown leather strap watch, and £150 (about $201) for the black rubber watch.
This makes it considerably cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and Apple Watch Series 11, if both of those are out of your budget.
