What you need to know
- RedMagic begins teasing its next gaming tablet, the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, on Weibo, showing the model off in full with a glowing camera bar and in white and black colorways.
- Images seem to confirm the existence of Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon, as well as RedMagic’s teaser of “water cooling.”
- The last compact tablet was the RedMagic Astra, which delivered strong gaming potential for mobile titles, a huge battery, and up to 1TB of space.
If you forgot about RedMagic’s upcoming gaming tablet, we wouldn’t blame you. There’s been some hefty silence about it, but the company’s stepped forward with an official early look at the device.
“Small yet powerful” is how RedMagic describes its upcoming gaming tablet, the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, in a Weibo post (via GSMArena). The company states it’s eyeing eSports with this new tablet. Its design speaks volumes to this interest, featuring glowing LEDs across its camera bar. RedMagic’s photos seem to confirm the inclusion of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip, which might sound enticing to consumers looking for strong gaming performance.
Since the company is settling on the compact side this time, the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro features one rear camera. Nestled beside that is its LED flash. The remainder of the tablet’s back panel remains clean, save for RedMagic’s beastly logo. RedMagic is preparing the device in white and black colorways.
Phones and tablets have gotten better with gaming over the years, but there’s still one problem: cooling. To solve this, RedMagic states the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro features “water cooling.” It’s also offering a “RedMagic Cooler” for Chinese users replying in the thread’s comments. Official display sizes are still kept under wraps, much like other specifications, to truly get us excited. However, RedMagic confirms that its tablet will launch on June 30.
Gaming power in your hands
We last discussed RedMagic’s next “small tablet” in March when RedMagic started talking about it. The company teased this device during MWC 2026, but that was pretty much the only tease we got. The early render, which showed a smoky background and a carbon fiber hand holding the tablet, was vague. We could glean that the tablet would likely be another compact model, based on nothing but the render.
There was speculation that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 could power the tablet, and that seems to be the case after these images. The last compact model we got from RedMagic was the Astra, an OLED gaming tablet with a 9-inch display. There’s a 1TB version of this tablet. A likely boon to gamers looking to go hard on their games all day long, with up to 24GB of RAM. The Astra also features a massive battery and strong gaming capabilities that propel gamers.
We’re expecting more of the same with the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro.
Android Central’s Take
I’m a gamer. Always have been and always will be. RedMagic gives those handheld vibes I’ve lost ever since the PSP was sunset… then the PS Vita. Don’t even get me started about the Nintendo 3DS. Sure, there’s the Switch 2, but I’m getting off topic. RedMagic’s devices sit differently. They’re the phones, the tablets. Bringing mobile gaming to the forefront, not just console-like games that are handheld. I’m particularly happy to see the company’s mentioning cooling for this new edition. Just how cool remains unclear, but we won’t have to wait long.
