Samsung’s Privacy Display may not stay exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra for long

What you need to know

  • A new leak claims Samsung is testing the Privacy Display feature for the smaller Galaxy S27 Pro.
  • Samsung is rumored to launch four Galaxy S27 models next year, including a new Pro variant.
  • The Galaxy S27 Pro could feature a 6.47-inch display while retaining several Ultra-level features.

According to a new leak, Samsung could bring the Privacy Display feature from the Galaxy S26 Ultra to the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro next year.

It’s only been a few months since the Galaxy S26 Ultra launched, but rumors surrounding the Galaxy S27 lineup have already started appearing. We recently heard reports suggesting Samsung could skip major hardware changes for the Galaxy S27 series due to rising component costs. At the same time, another rumor claimed the company may finally bring native Qi2 support to the Galaxy S27 lineup.

Now, a new leak from Digital Chat Station suggests Samsung could expand the Privacy Display feature beyond the Ultra model. For those who haven’t been following the rumors, Samsung is reportedly planning to launch four Galaxy S27 models next year: the base model, Plus, Ultra, and a new Pro variant.

The Galaxy S27 Pro is said to bring many of the Ultra’s premium features to a smaller form factor, something Samsung fans have been asking for for years. According to the leak, Samsung is currently testing a 6.47-inch display for the Galaxy S27 Pro with Privacy Display technology built in.

For those who don’t remember, Privacy Display is one of the new features of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It prevents people viewing your screen from the side from seeing what’s displayed by limiting visibility angles at the hardware level. When enabled, the person directly in front of the screen can see everything normally, while anyone viewing from the side mostly sees a darkened display.

The leak also claims that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 6.89-inch 2K display, which would be very similar to the panel found on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Galaxy S27 Pro, meanwhile, would offer a much more manageable screen size at just under 6.5 inches.

Of course, it’s still far too early to treat any of this as confirmed. Samsung could easily add, remove, or change features before launch. We saw something similar happen with the Galaxy S26 lineup, where plans reportedly shifted late in development. There’s also no guarantee that the Galaxy S27 Pro itself will actually launch.

That said, if Samsung does go ahead with the Galaxy S27 Pro, it could end up being one of the most interesting Galaxy phones in years. A smaller flagship with the Privacy Display feature is something I’ve wanted Samsung to build for a long time.
