Halo: Campaign Evolved Cross-Play and Cross-Saves Explained

June 23, 2026

Halo: Campaign Evolved is an Unreal Engine 5-powered remake of the seminal FPS that fans first fell in love with over two decades ago. And for the first time, this beloved entry in the franchise finally sports four-player co-op, allowing friends to team up together both online and in local split-screen play. However, in an age where there are so many ecosystem choices, you’re bound to have friends on different platforms than you, leaving you to wonder if you’ll be able to play with them via cross-play.

Below, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know about cross-play, as well as cross-progression, in Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Does Halo: Campaign Evolved have cross-play?

If you want to play with friends from another ecosystem, we’ve got some good news: Halo: Campaign Evolved supports cross-play across every platform. This means that you can link up with your pals across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (via Windows or Steam) with ease.

However, it’s important to note that every platform requires you to have an Xbox gamertag, including PS5. So, before you can team up with your friends on other systems, you’ll need to set up a Microsoft account and sign in to it in-game. Afterward, you’ll be free to send invites to those friends regardless of where they’re playing the game.

Of course, if you’re playing Halo: Campaign Evolved with friends within the same ecosystem as you, you can just send them game invites directly through your friends list on that platform as well.

Does Halo: Campaign Evolved have cross-progression?

While it’s common to have friends who play on different platforms, you may own multiple platforms yourself. If you’re interested in jumping between them while playing Halo: Campaign Evolved, you’ll want to know about cross-save functionality. Luckily, the good news continues: Halo: Campaign Evolved supports cross-progression across all platforms.

With cross-progression, you can start your game on your PS5, then hop over and play it on your Xbox Series X or PC (or vice versa). For Xbox and PC players, you can buy the game via the Microsoft Store to gain the benefits of Xbox Play Anywhere, letting you automatically jump between those two platforms with no additional purchases necessary. PS5 players, meanwhile, will need to buy an additional copy of the game to take advantage of cross-progression.

Either way, as with cross-play, you have to sign into a Microsoft Account to take advantage of cross-progression, so be prepared before diving in.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on July 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those who pre-order the Digital Premium Edition or Collector’s Edition can dive in 5 days early on July 23.
