Mint Mobile is looking to eat T-Mobile’s lunch with its $15/month unlimited plan

T-Mobile has been making waves with some bold moves over the past couple of years, catching the attention of loyal customers due to increasing prices on plans that were promised to not change. While we thought that the price hikes might be over, the carrier announced that it would be retiring older plans and moving customers to new ones starting in July.

Of course, customers will get new perks and features, but the move also introduces higher prices. Regardless of which carrier you’re with, it’s easy to understand why customers would be upset with this move, especially when things have been working so smoothly for years now. So, what’s the next step if you’re a T-Mobile customer?

You move to a carrier that’s offering better prices

While Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile typically dominate, it seems like the best move to make right now is to sign up with an MVNO. An MVNO carrier still utilizes big carrier networks for its infrastructure, which means customers still get excellent coverage and reliability.

Each MVNO carrier is different, but we like Mint Mobile. Not only are you going to get a reliable and fast network, but Mint Mobile is powered by T-Mobile. This is important if you’ve seen the news from T-Mobile and have been looking for different options.

Right now, Mint Mobile is offering all its plans at $15/month. So, while you can choose the 6GB, 17GB, or 23GB plans, we recommend going with the unlimited plan because it’s the same price. Of course, this is a promotional price.

But it’s hard to beat a whole year of unlimited service for $180. After the year is over, the unlimited plan comes in at $30/month, which isn’t all that bad, to be honest. You get unlimited calls, texts, and data. In addition, you get free calling to Canada, Mexico, in the UK.

Each plan also comes with mobile hotspot included. So, if you ever need to connect other devices to your internet, you can always tether them using your Mint Mobile plan. Mint Mobile really does provide great value. Plus, you can try it out for seven days risk-free.

The recent change with T-Mobile will have many customers exploring their options. You can only raise prices so much before people start to take notice and start asking questions. Again, there are many different MVNOs and wireless carriers to choose from. It doesn’t hurt to explore your options.

Mint Mobile is a value-focused MVNO that runs off T-Mobile’s 5G network in the US. It differentiates itself from the competition by offering wholesale discounts for its service — you buy multiple months of service at a time and pay less per month as a result. Mint Mobile was partially owned by Ryan Reynolds, before T-Mobile acquired the MVNO earlier in 2024.
