Google Photos is getting a Gemini-powered video-editing feature called Video Remix.
Video Remix is powered by Gemini Omni, Google’s AI model that generates and edits video from text, audio, image, and video inputs. It works using a library of templates that Google said are designed to produce “share-worthy moments in just a few taps” without professional skills or hours of editing.
Located in the Create tab
Users can find Video Remix in the Create tab of Google Photos. There you can use it for:
- Cinematic Relighting: Automatically brighten and enhance poorly lit or dark video clips
- Background Swapping: Replace plain or distracting backgrounds with more dynamic, stylized options
- Artistic Filters: Apply advanced visual treatments to video footage, including watercolor, raw sketchbook, and oil painting effects
Builds on Remix
Video Remix builds on the Remix feature that Google Photos introduced back in December.
Also found in the Create tab, Remix lets users transform still images into 3D animation, anime, sketch, and comic book styles.
The Create tab also includes photo to video, which turns an image into a four- to six-second video clip, and collages, which makes a collage from up to six photos.
Video remix goes live today
Video Remix is rolling out today to those with Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans who are over 18 years old.
It’s available in the US, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, and Turkey.
