Despite Spotify being one of the more popular music streaming services, YouTube Music has been gaining traction lately, offering a wealth of features not available on other platforms. Naturally, it’s going to be all about preferences, and while big features might be the main attraction, we like it when a company focuses on adding small touches to make the experience better.
A more modern look
Android Authority reports that YouTube Music is experimenting with adding full-screen cover art. The image of the new look was shared via Telegram by user Hamada. Apparently, this feature is currently being tested, and the outlet was unable to reproduce it on any of its products.
If you’re curious, you can take a look at the YouTube Music app on your phone to see if this is something that’s available to you right now. I was not able to get this to work for me on my Pixel 10a running Android 17 and the latest version of YouTube Music. For what it’s worth, it looks good, and I’m sure many people will be happy with this feature.
But personally, I couldn’t care less about this because I’m not looking at my phone screen when listening to music. Sure, it expands the current cover art, but I like the smaller square image that simulates an album cover you’d find on a CD or LP. I understand that I’m probably in the minority here. But I hope Google provides the option to choose the look you want for your own music.
I’m curious to know: how would you set up your album cover art with YouTube Music? In addition to the above, YouTube Music has recently made changes to playlists, providing more selection when it comes to the way they are sorted, along with a change to the app’s search bar. For the most part, YouTube Music is the way to go if you’re someone who’s always on an Android phone.
Furthermore, you can’t really beat the price, especially if you’re getting it bundled with your YouTube Premium or Google AI subscription. If you haven’t given it a try, I’d highly recommend it. I’ve been using YouTube Music for a few years now, and it’s always been extremely reliable. The platform provides access to tons of music, podcasts, and even more obscure songs and live performances.
And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always upload your own catalog to the platform at no extra cost, up to 100,000 songs.
