You never know when a brand’s going to just call it quits. We don’t see a lot of it, but it has happened. One of the major brands to go that really left an impression on me personally was LG. The brand was delivering innovative solutions, but it wasn’t making money.
While it only happened five years ago, most people have already forgotten just how much of a force LG really was. More recently, we saw OnePlus exit major markets like the US and Europe. And it wasn’t surprising because we had early reports going back months before the official news broke.
Now there are murmurs for Nothing
Now, we never like to see it, but a report started circulating indicating that Nothing would be exiting specific markets due to poor sales. The exit would reportedly be substantial, involving 12 markets, which, as you can imagine, is not a good thing. While this type of news is bad for any company, it’s especially damaging for a small brand like Nothing.
The report also stated that there would be layoffs, another thing you don’t want to see happen. With that said, Nothing was pretty quick to try and extinguish the flames, with Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis chiming in on X. Evangelidis denied the reports, calling them “FAKE NEWS” (via 9to5Google).
More importantly, Evangelidis stated that Nothing is “not shutting down any markets.” However, Evangelidis did state that the company is “reorganizing” to “prepare for our next phase of growth.” In addition, the company would be “consolidating individual countries into regional hubs to operate much more efficiently.”

Now, there does appear to be some impact on Nothing’s teams, but there were no numbers mentioned in the message posted to X. Evangelidis shared that “We know how difficult this transition is for our team members who are affected. We are deeply grateful for their contributions and are fully committed to supporting them through this process.”
We’ve seen this before
Now, one thing to note is that we’ve seen this all before. Companies will adamantly deny that anything is wrong, and that all is well. And in these instances, it’s hard to separate fact from fiction. Companies will try and protect their brand, which makes complete sense, because any bad news can really affect its business.
We’d like to see Nothing go far, so for now, we’ll just have to trust what Nothing is saying. Let’s just hope that we won’t get a press release in the near future about how the company is pulling out from certain markets due to the poor sales of its products.
