Google Calendar can be a powerful app if you know how to use it, while also utilizing the hidden features you haven’t discovered yet. Although the app experience is pretty good for the most part, there’s still a lot to be desired when navigating Google Calendar on the web.
Although there are plenty of things to nitpick, we wish that Google would make the Calendar experience better on larger monitors. The good news is, that’s exactly the change that’s landing with users right now, with Google sharing the news on its Workspace Updates blog.
Rolling out now
The change is rolling out to users starting today, and will continue until the end of next month. By heading into the Settings menu, users will be able to change the look of Calendar by heading into the Appearance section. From there, users should see the option to control information density, with Responsive, Comfortable, and Compact options.
The change will allow users to “customize how calendar events scale on their screens to accommodate various monitor sizes.” By choosing the responsive option, the calendar will dynamically change depending on the size of the screen, providing a much cleaner-looking experience. If you’re using a large monitor, responsive is the one to go with.
As stated before, this update is now rolling out to all users. Those on the Rapid Release should see it today, and those on the Scheduled Release will start seeing it on August 15, 2026. In the end, most, if not all users will be able to access the setting by the end of August. It’s a small change but should make a huge difference for anyone who really makes Calendar an integral part of their day.
Recent changes make it even better
Most recently, Google also introduced more color options for events. The app jumped from just 11 default colors to 24. And if you want to take things further, you can even expand to 200 other shades. Those looking to go all out will love that there’s also a full RGB color picker. The change allows users to set up to 200 custom colors for events.
