ASUS offers free Google AI with select laptops

If you’re looking to buy a new laptop to take advantage of the latest AI features, you need to be smart. While a large number of new laptops are advertised as “supporting” the latest AI features, there’s often a catch: Getting the most out of those AI features requires you to opt into a paid subscription. Thankfully, a new ASUS promo can get you started without paying anything extra.

The promotion covers 2025, 2026, and upcoming 2027 models across the ROG, TUF Gaming, ProArt, Zenbook, and Vivobook lines. According to the promotion’s terms, you simply need to own an eligible ASUS laptop during the August 10, 2026–August 9, 2027 redemption period to claim the free subscription.  A full list of eligible models is available on the ASUS website.

It’s worth noting that even if you have a qualifying device, you might not be able to claim the promotion. ASUS says the following users are ineligible:

• Google One users subscribed to an add-on.
• Google One users subscribed to a higher tier plan than the one being offered.
• Google One users on a family plan who are not the plan manager.
• Google One users who have a Google One subscription through a third party or affiliate.
• Google One users who are a discounted Pixel bundle subscriber.

If that includes you, you can always claim the promotion with a different Google account. Also worth noting is the fact that if you redeem the promotional subscription while being an existing Google One member, your trial will start immediately and your existing plan will automatically be cancelled. You may or may not get a refund for the existing plan.

If you’re planning to claim the promotional subscription, set a reminder for a little under three months after redemption. That’s because you will be automatically charged at the standard monthly Google One subscription price once the offer period ends.

Whether you get to claim the higher-end AI Pro subscription or the more affordable AI Plus subscription depends on which eligible laptop you own — you don’t get to choose the plan you want.

Google AI Plus is the more modest option out of the two. It offers extended access to Gemini’s enhanced models and features, like Gemini 3.1 Pro and Deep Research. It also gives you access to Gemini in Google apps and higher usage limits to image, music, and video generation models within Gemini and AI Mode. Perhaps most importantly, the subscription comes with 400GB of cloud storage to be used across Gmail, Drive, and Photos.

Google AI Pro, in comparison, is more feature-packed option. In addition to everything that AI Plus offers, AI Pro gives you even higher access to top Gemini models and features, all while offering 5TB of cloud storage across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. YouTube Premium Lite, Google Health Premium, and Google Home Premium are bundled with the subscription.
