Pixel Glow a.k.a HiLight is going to be one of the most visible hardware upgrades to the Pixel 11 lineup this year. However, a new leak indicates that the fancy LED light will not be available on the entry-level Pixel 11 model.
So far, leaks point to the Pixel Glow — which Google will reportedly market as HiLight — being a new LED lighting system integrated into the camera flash inside the Pixel 11’s camera island. Think of it as a modern take on the colored notification LED found on Android phones a decade ago.
Unfortunately, Google will exclusively offer HiLight on its Pro Pixels, leaving the base Pixel 11 model without the flashy feature. Given the phone’s lower price tag, that omission makes sense. However, HiLight must offer more than just some fancy lighting if Google hopes it can convince buyers to skip the cheaper Pixel 11 and go for the Pro model instead.
Leaker @evowizz also claims that the Pixel 11 will ship with 12GB RAM as standard. That contradicts previous leaks that suggested Google will cut down the RAM on its entry-level Pixel this year to 8GB to save costs.
Despite the increased DRAM and storage pricing, sticking to 12GB as standard across the Pixel 11 lineup makes sense. It would ensure that even the base Pixel has enough RAM to handle more demanding AI tasks, especially in the future.
It also seems that the telephoto camera on the device will not get any upgrades, with Google seemingly sticking with the same 10.8MP shooter.
Google still has a few Pixel 11 surprises up its sleeve
Despite the barrage of Pixel 11 leaks in the last few weeks, @evowizz says that “various features have not leaked yet.” He is deliberately holding back those details, though, to avoid spoiling all the surprises ahead of Google’s official unveiling.
In a follow-up post on X, he does tease that “a special set of features” will be the “focus” of the Pixel 11 lineup.
Thankfully, we will not have to wait long to know more about these mysterious Pixel 11 features. The Made by Google event is just a few hours away. Given Google’s AI push with Pixels in recent years, don’t be surprised if at least some of these unannounced features revolve heavily around Gemini and AI.
