If you want to progress the main story in Fields Of Mistria, you’re going to need to embrace your yearning for the mines. Alongside being necessary to learning the secrets of the town, mining is a great way to make money, find crafting materials, fulfill requests, and gather gifts for your new Mistrian pals.

Mining Basics
When you first enter the mines in Fields Of Mistria, you won’t be able to go very deep. Climbing down the ladder gets you to the first floor, where you’ll need to break rocks to find the next ladder down, and so on. Every 5 floors, you’ll unlock an elevator that takes you between that floor, all the ones you’ve previously unlocked, and the top floor exit. This means once you’ve unlocked Floor 10, for example, you won’t have to start at Floor 1 every time, you can skip right ahead to Floor 10 and go from there.
Mine floors contain primarily rocks and enemies of various types, with items to be foraged, chests to be opened, as well as fish and bugs unique to those areas. The further you go, the more biomes you’ll unlock–each with their own types of rocks, enemies, collectables, and forage.
To get the most out of the Mine, you’ll need to come equipped, your bag packed efficiently, and with enough hours in the day. Time passes fast in Mistria, especially when you’re losing yourself in combat. If your Health reaches 0, you’ll faint and wake up at the Clinic, and if your Stamina reaches 0, you won’t be able to fight or mine any longer.
An efficient inventory for venturing into the Mines would include: a sword, pickaxe, net, fishing rod, and at least 2 meals with everything else left at home.
At the top of the Mine, near the entrance, is a Dragon Statue. Interacting with it allows you to trade Essence for Mining and Combat Skill perks, which can influence things like drops and critical strike chance.
Combat Basics
Combat in Fields Of Mistria is fairly simple, and if you have the right armor and gear, it shouldn’t pose any problems, even at the highest levels. There is one weapon–the sword–which can be leveled up through using different materials to craft it, with each of these materials being available in the Mine. Armor is also acquired through similar means, although it is possible for both armor and weapons to drop as a combat reward.
If your Health hits 0 and you end up in the Clinic, you don’t lose anything currently in your pockets. You just won’t be able to carry on with your day, which can lose you precious hours. To avoid a faint, carry food with you, make use of the fountains scattered through the Mines, and use armor wisely.

Tips For Exploring The Mines
If you see a whirlpool in the water, jump into it, it’ll take you off somewhere new and previously inaccessible, like a secret room. These usually have something useful or valuable in them.
Climbing up a ladder won’t take you back to the floor before, it’ll put you right back at the entrance to the Mines, so only use them to go up if you’re sure you’re done for the day. Climbing down a revealed ladder will always take you down to the next floor. If you can’t see a ladder, you need to keep breaking rocks until one appears.
If you find a Dragon Priestess Statue, you can offer it something from your pockets, and it will in turn reward you with either Health, Stamina, or Essence.

There are 5 biomes you will encounter in the Mines, each separated by a Seal which must be broken to progress.
