The Pixel 11 Pro is a fairly complete device thanks to Google’s years of refinement with this design. It’s unique, reliable, and carries all the hardware specifications you’d expect from a flagship device.
Naturally, with any new phone, some folks will get curious about just how durable it might be. That’s where the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel comes in, stress testing phones beyond what most normal people will put their devices through.
Just another teardown
The latest phone to land on the workbench is the Pixel 11 Pro XL. While most phones can handle quite a bit of abuse thanks to its metal frame, the screen is always an area that varies widely. Even though you won’t be putting a razor blade on your screen like in the YouTube video, there’s a good chance that your screen will come into contact with keys, coins, and other things in your pocket.
If you’re unlucky, the phone might even hit or slide on the pavement. It’s important to have excellent durability where it matters most. The Pixel 11 Pro XL has a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen that’s protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass with anti-scratch shield. For the most part, the experiment shows that the technology on the screen could protect against micro scratches.
However, deep scratches from hard materials will still impact the display. But if you want to keep things mint, you’ll most likely want to use a screen protector. Perhaps the biggest news with this tear-down is that the phone is just as easy to repair as the previous Pixel models.
The JerryRigEverything channel explores the internals by easily removing the front screen and back panels. You’ll still want to be careful, but breaking down the phone looked relatively seamless. If you were ever interested, iFixit does supply official parts for Google products. However, it looks a little early for the Pixel 11 because parts have yet to show up on the iFixit storefront.
If you dig tear downs, I’d highly recommend checking out the Pixel 11 Pro XL one from JerryRigEverything. And if you’re interested in grabbing the phone, get it from Amazon. They are now giving away a $200 gift card with a Pixel 11 Pro purchase.
