Google’s Google TV launcher isn’t the only way to arrange an Android TV home screen. However, finding the best Android TV launchers can be surprisingly difficult. For users who want more control over what appears on their TV and where, third-party launchers have become an appealing alternative. ATV Launcher Pro is one such option, and its latest update makes a strong case for giving it a closer look.
The latest ATV Launcher Pro v0.1.40 update is a major overhaul that puts far more control over the home screen in your hands. According to the release notes, you can now add sections wherever you want, move them around, change how they look, and decide exactly what each one displays. Better still, all of this happens directly on the home screen, so you can see the results of every change as you make it.
The new layout editor is the star of the show. A quick press of the Menu button on any row brings up controls to move, hide, delete, style, or adjust it. You can also insert new sections between existing rows, including app collections, folders, device inputs, widgets, Watch Next, and Recommended content.
The customization doesn’t stop there. ATV Launcher Pro now offers 12 styles for app rows, ranging from a macOS Dock-inspired layout to movie posters, hero banners, carousels, and vertical grids. Rows can also have their own backgrounds, borders, spacing, corner radius, tile sizes, and titles, and there are seven tile layouts to choose from as well.
That level of control makes ATV Launcher Pro particularly interesting for anyone who finds other TV launchers too rigid. Projectivy, another popular alternative to the Google TV launcher, offers plenty of customization, and ATV Launcher Pro’s new approach now also lets users build much more of the interface themselves.
The update also adds screen breaks for separating long layouts into distinct screens, system-wide icon pack support, video wallpapers, and seven focus effects. Watch Next and Recommended rows can now be added multiple times and configured to pull content from specific apps or channels.
Rounding things out are a new Digital Clock widget, scalable ATV Launcher widgets, a VPN indicator in the status bar, Android 16 support, and faster settings. There’s also an optional Home Button Redirect feature for TVs that don’t normally allow third-party launchers to take over the Home button.
For anyone looking beyond the stock Google TV experience, ATV Launcher Pro just became a much more compelling option. You can grab the latest version in the Play Store.
