If you’ve taken a drive with Android Auto in the last week or so, you may have noticed a serious problem when you tried to start your tunes: Spotify wasn’t working.
Thankfully for all of us who hate being alone with their own thoughts, Google has confirmed to Android Authority that it has fixed the problem and is pushing out a fix today.

Driving and banging tunes go together like peanut butter and jelly, and for many, the idea of not being able to get to your favorite driving playlist is like a terrible nightmare. But that’s the reality a lot of Android Auto users have been living for the last week.
As spotted in posts on r/AndroidAuto, trying to boot up Spotify in Android Auto would lead to a short pause, followed by an error screen and a “Spotify isn’t responding” message.
As is usual for problems like this, people had some success with workarounds for problem, including leaving a beta program for the apps in question, or clearing the Spotify app’s cache and starting again. However, none of these solutions worked for everyone, and it seemed as if this would be an ongoing problem for a while.
Thankfully, that’s not the case. After reaching out to Google, Android Authority has confirmed the Android Auto team had good news about the bug, and was pushing out a fix for the issue today.
So hopefully, by the time you read this post, your Android Auto has already been patched and is working fine.
If not, well, I guess you’re listening to the radio instead. Like some sort of caveman.
Android Auto hasn’t been too bad with bugs lately, though there have definitely been some standout ones. The traffic layer disappearing is a particular lowlight, though that may not be around for long, as Google has been quick off the mark to clear out problems.
