If you’re looking for a dead-simple health and fitness tracking device, the Fitbit Air is a solid choice. It has no screen and is built for straightforward tracking. You get all the data from the app on your phone. It’s a refreshing device at a time when we spend too much time glued to our screens.
And if you were thinking about buying one, Google just announced a new Fitbit Air model that harnesses the power of Pokémon Sleep. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a sleep tracking app that gamifies the experience. For the most part, it’s pretty good. And now, it’s part of a special collaboration with Google.
This is going to be a must-have for some people
The band comes in blue and features a special Pokémon Sleep patch with Pikachu. You can preorder the Google Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep edition for $130. This price puts it just $30 above the standard model but in line with other special edition releases like the Stephen Curry edition.
You get all the same features as the standard model, except that you can now use that data for the Pokémon Sleep app. Google states, “Google Health and Fitbit Air’s advanced sleep tracking with the playful, rewarding experience of the Pokémon Sleep app.” What’s great is that you now have a device that syncs your data to the Pokémon Sleep app for the most accurate readings.
Naturally, the Google Health app will also track this data. You can use this data to get tips on how to obtain a better night’s rest. Personally, I’ve never really had success with these types of tips. Some nights when I think I sleep really well, the data says otherwise, and vice versa. If you’re into Pokémon, this is going to be a great way to have a little fun with very little effort.
If you don’t care about the limited-edition band, you can also connect your standard Fitbit Air to the app for the same experience. You can pre-order the device now, and it will be available starting September 15. You can visit a physical Google Store to check it out, or you can also go to Target.
