Sonos has been working overtime to recover from a disastrous app update that it made in 2024. Today is a big day for the brand as it launches its next chapter with Sonos 27.
It’s making some changes
Now, Sonos 27 technically isn’t something new, but the brand is finally giving it a name. It’s what makes all its products work so seamlessly, so it’s easy to see why it deserves a title. In addition, the technology that lets Sonos products speak with each other is also getting a name: Sonos Fabric.
The brand also announced new features coming to Sonos 27, arriving later this year. Perhaps the biggest addition is something called Sonos 27voice. Sonos Voice Control is the default experience, but Sonos 27voice attempts to make voice commands more seamless. This system lets users request music using natural phrases.
Sonos shares examples, like “Play that song I had on in the kitchen last night,” or “Put on something downstairs that the kids will like.” If you’ve been using AI tools over the past year, you’ll be familiar with how much this change can make life simpler.
Furthermore, Sonos will allow users to connect to their favorite chatbot to control their Sonos experience with Sonos MCP. It will be available in English first and will be part of the Early Access program in the US later this fall.

Sonos owners won’t have to do anything to get this latest update. The Sonos 27 update is rolling out to all users. Sonos recommends keeping your app on your phones or tablets updated.
The brand has two new products
If the software and feature updates weren’t enough, Sonos also has two new products available for preorder: the Sonos Beam Ultra and Sonos Ace Ultra. The former is a new entry in the Sonos soundbar lineup, sitting between the Sonos Ray and Arc Ultra. It features 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos, nine drivers, and costs $699.
The Sonos Ace Ultra is the brand’s new top-of-the-line headphones, offering impressive sound and powerful ANC. It comes in four colors and costs $449. You can pre-order both products directly from Sonos. The Sonos website has an estimated shipment date of September 29, 2026.
