As it continues on its journey to refocus its business priorities, and in particular concentrate on its Sentinel orchestration platform powering partner-led private wireless networks, managed internet of things (IoT) connectivity and wireless solutions company Kajeet has sold its private wireless deployment division to communications infrastructure and managed services firm Heddian.
Kajeet has the stated mission of delivering intelligent connectivity, using the Sentinel platform to turn this connectivity into real-time insight. This allows users to unify connected device ecosystems with what the company calls “purpose-built intelligence” that makes operations smarter, faster and more reliable. The technology currently sees use in the public sector, healthcare and enterprise.
For its part, Heddian says it delivers secure, reliable, resilient and affordable communications solutions for mission-critical environments with deep expertise in private LTE and 5G networks.
It designs, deploys and manages communications infrastructure that it assures can fill critical network gaps, helping organisations modernise connectivity and build stronger networks for the future. The company’s products see use in areas such as utilities and capabilities spanning healthcare, higher education and airports.
Kajeet claims that over the past several years, it has built one of the market’s most advanced private wireless practices, spanning neutral host networks, hybrid private and public networks, and multi-operator core networks.
It noted that as the ecosystem matures, it would be concentrating its investment in Sentinel – an orchestration layer that provides partners with device, data and network visibility, and control across private wireless and neutral host environments – while deployment specialists such as Heddian build on the platform.
Under the acquisition agreement, Heddian will take over support for existing private wireless customers and leading new deployments, customer support, deployment planning, implementation resources, and the acquired pipeline of future contracts.
The transition is said to be designed to provide continuity for current customers while pairing them with Heddian’s focused expertise in radio frequency (RF) design, site builds and physical deployment. In addition, Kajeet will license its Sentinel connectivity management platform to Heddian, keeping the platform at the centre of the networks Heddian will deploy, operate and support.
The companies say that going forward, they will work together to ensure a smooth transition for existing customers. Heddian will serve as the primary partner for private wireless support and new deployments, with Sentinel continuing to provide the connectivity management and orchestration layer behind these networks.
“We are incredibly proud of the private wireless practice Kajeet built and the foundational role our team has played at the cutting edge of neutral host, hybrid and multi-operator core networks,” said Kajeet president Landon Garner. “This agreement allows Heddian to bring focused deployment expertise to customers while Kajeet continues to invest in Sentinel as the orchestration platform that powers these networks. It is the right next step for customers, for partners, and for the continued evolution of our platform.”
Heddian CEO Joe Walsh added: “This acquisition represents an important step in Heddian’s growth and reinforces our commitment to becoming a leading private wireless solutions partner. We are bringing together Heddian’s deep RF, deployment and managed services expertise with an established customer base, experienced private wireless professionals and a strong pipeline of opportunities. Most importantly, customers will benefit from continuity of expertise and support, backed by Heddian’s singular focus on designing, deploying and managing secure and reliable mission-critical private networks.”
