TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition: where Italian design language shapes the hardware itself

Add Android Authority on Google:

Co-branded phones sometimes mean a simple color swap and a partner logo on the back. But at their best, they highlight real collaboration: two brands sit down together, work out what matters to each, and build a device around that shared thinking. That’s exactly what TECNO sets out to do with Tonino Lamborghini on the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition.

It starts with a question: what could connect the mobile phone brand and the Italian lifestyle brand with a new generation of users? The answer TECNO and Tonino Lamborghini arrived at is boldness. Once you see how consistently that idea shows up across the design, the phone’s software, and its performance, it’s clear how well the partnership works. Here’s what you need to know.

What connects these two brands

Tonino Lamborghini, founded by Dr. Tonino Lamborghini, heir to the Lamborghini family, has spent more than four decades building a brand around Italian lifestyle, from watches and eyewear to hospitality and luxury living. The brand describes it as something you feel and live, not just something you own, and that comes from a bold attitude defined by character and individuality.

With the POVA series, TECNO has followed a version of the same idea for years, just from a different angle. Instead of chasing traditional flagship status, POVA has built its identity around youthful energy, unconventional design, and performance that doesn’t fail to impress. That’s why it feels like these two brands found real common ground with this collaboration.

Dr. Tonino Lamborghini calls the phone a reflection of “precision, energy, craftsmanship and an unmistakable design attitude,” adding that it’s “not a style applied on the surface, but a character running through the product itself.”

Meanwhile, Jack Guo, general manager of TECNO, said the launch was a defining moment for the brand, one where the partnership shaped the design, the interface, the configurations, and even the AI running through the phone.

How the design comes together

The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Edition is not just an updated logo and a new color scheme. TECNO’s engineers and Tonino Lamborghini’s design team built the rear panel around a dual-layer stacking process, meaning the black-and-red finish isn’t printed on and shifts depending on how light hits it.

At the center is the Pulse Line, a design element meant to capture speed and kinetic energy in a pure abstract form. The Signature Shield’s hexagonal pattern wraps around it, inspired by Tonino Lamborghini’s shield identity and the geometry of high-performance engineering.

Tilt or rotate the phone, and you’ll see a red flush across the panel and then recede, following the light and shadow. It’s a tactile effect that is even more noticeable when you are handling the phone, and it’s the result of two design teams working closely on the same product.

The Alive Matrix Display, a dot-matrix lighting system on the back cover, gets its own Tonino Lamborghini treatment too. A customized “L” effect lights up as the phone powers on, a nod to the brand’s heritage, alongside roughly 50 scenarios covering smart notifications, gaming sync, device status, and even a couple of interactive mini-games. A dedicated One-Tap button gives quick access to the Alive Matrix Display’s mini-games, customizable gaming shortcuts in supported titles, and instant camera access.

The camera setup rounds out the physical design updates. It carries a red trim that echoes the same Italian passion running through the rest of the design, and a premium metallic engraving of the Tonino Lamborghini logo anchors the whole design language.

Design-forward phones don’t always hold up to daily wear. But the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Edition is more than up to the task, featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 7i panels and IP69K/IP69/IP68/IP66 dust and water resistance.

TECNO didn’t stop at the hardware. The software experience gets a full Pulse-Line inspired boot animation, a reworked lockscreen and live wallpaper, dozens of custom icons, and even a bespoke ringtone. It’s a level of software detail that shows the two brands designed the phone together, rather than assembling it from two separate ideas.

Performance backs up the boldness claim

None of that design work would matter if the phone itself didn’t perform. And with the POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Edition, TECNO builds a premium, all-around device to match its striking shell.

A MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor pairs with TECNO’s own P1 Graphic Chip to keep popular games running up to 144Hz, backed by a cooling system built for longer sessions. A 6,500mAh battery powers it all in a 7.39mm-thin body, so you don’t have to give up battery life for design.

The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display runs an adaptive refresh rate up to 144Hz and peaks at 4,500 nits for easy outdoor viewing. Wet & Oily Finger Touch Recognition 2.0 keeps it responsive in the rain or with sweaty or oily hands.

On the camera side, the main Sony LYTIA 700C sensor is larger than what you’d typically find at this price point. OIS keeps handheld shots and video steady, and 2x lossless zoom plus a 50MP high-resolution mode cover the moments that require more detail. An 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP front camera round out the setup for landscapes, group shots, and video calls.

AI features built for everyday use

TECNO’s approach to AI on this phone leans toward things you’d reach for day to day. AI YouTube Summary recognizes a copied video link and turns it into timeline markers and structured notes, useful for anyone working through long tutorials or lectures. All-Scenario Noise Cancellation identifies the speaker’s voiceprint and filters out everything else, including background voices, with separate modes for calls, recordings, and meetings.

AI LightMaster 2.0 cleans up flares, reflections, and shadows in photos before you share them, and in select markets, an AI Health Assistant can estimate blood pressure, blood oxygen, heart rate, and respiration using only a face scan. A broader suite rounds things out, including AI Writing to polish and summarize text and an AI Theme Generator to build custom phone themes.

What the TECNO and Tonino Lamborghini collaboration adds up to

When you step back from the individual features and look at the bigger picture, it’s clear how consistently TECNO and Tonino Lamborghini stuck to one idea across the whole phone. The dual-layer finish that shifts with light, the Alive Matrix Display’s custom “L” effect, the Pulse-Line boot animation, and even the ringtone all trace back to the same design language, built jointly rather than added on at the end.

It also aligns with who TECNO is chasing with the POVA line: buyers who want a phone that performs well but also looks and feels like it was made with clarity and intention. Pairing that with Tonino Lamborghini, a brand built on the idea that luxury is something you feel rather than something you simply own, gives TECNO a design story that’s more than just a spec bump.
