Snapseed tests Community Looks for sharing your favorite tweaks

Snapseed on Android is having a moment. After years of being ignored, we finally got the big 4.0 update this past spring, pushing the app back into relevancy. In the months since, it’s only kept getting better and better with lots of new feature additions. Today we’re checking out some of the latest to hit the Snapseed beta, including a few we’ve been eagerly anticipating.

One month back, we spotted Snapseed developers working towards a couple new features: look-up table (LUT) support for custom color grading, and bringing the app’s Motion Blur from iOS over to Android.

Over on the Snapseed Reddit sub, devs now confirm that both of these are rolling out to users in the beta. But we’re also getting a little more beyond just what we saw before — for instance, in addition to Motion Blur, the app also picks up Depth/Portrait Blur.

That also applies to LUT support, which arrives alongside general custom presets, allowing users to save configurations as their own Looks. But more than that, the app’s also implementing a new Community Looks repository, letting the community share their best presets which each other.

While we’re not in the Snapseed beta ourselves, after hearing about this we cracked open the normal app again, and sure enough, we’re seeing the framework for all this new support:

The idea with Community Looks is to highlight some of the most useful and impressive settings other Snapseed users have come up, and to rotate through those regularly in order to keep the selection feeling fresh.
